Presence of smaller insects in dirt can also attract them as food. Hence, clear all dirt lying in and around the house to get rid of them and starve them.
Get rid of sheltering areas. They mostly prefer dark areas in the house. Cracks and holes provide the right shelter for a cockroach. Many cockroaches could stay in a small hole that is dark and holds enough space for them. To get rid of them, cover up such openings and seal each crack. Make sure every corner of the house gets enough light to keep cockroaches away. The ceiling should also be sealed to prevent roaches from sneaking into the house.
